Samsung look set to gamble on evolution not revolution with the S9
The samsung galaxy S8 was one of the most popular phones of 2017 with its stunning screen, its beautiful camera and a much smoother UI than in previous years helping it into many people’s pockets. Samsung have always tried to bring out their gadgets earlier in the year to try and get a jump on the competition and with so many great competitors now they need to impress more than ever before.
Every February, when they launch the new galaxy phone, it is always one of the hottest gadgets out there and one that everyone wants. They want to build hype and to build a market where people believe that things are going to be great with their new phone and they need not worry, especially after the Galaxy Note 7 debacle which saw many of their phones recalled after battery issues that saw some of them explode. Which, lets be honest, is not something you want to happen to your expensive new phone.
The new S8 and the Note 8 helped to rebuild their reputation but now, they are surprisingly taking a gamble on making the S9 a slightly updated version of the S8 rather than creating and bringing something totally new and different to the market. It is a rather large gamble and they don’t even have a Stan James promo code 2018 to help them to guarantee a return. With that promo code Stan James will give anyone a £10 free bet allowing them to make something without putting any money down. For Samsung they will put a great deal of money down and have to hope that their bet pays off, its not free after all.
All of the mock ups of the S9 suggest that things might get a little better but it will hardly be the change that happened between the S7 and the S8. In many videos online, there are basically no real difference between the S8 and the S9. It seems like the screen will be similar, the cameras might be on top of one another and the fingerprint scanner will be moved, however it looks like more a classic ‘s’ model upgrade that Apple used to do in order to slightly upgrade, say the iPhone 6 to the 6S and give it a few more bells and whistles without totally changing it.
This means that, if you have an S8 you might want to hold on for what is likely to be the S10 that comes out in 2019, a phone that, hopefully like the iPhone X, will be something very exciting and different, something that feels new and fresh rather than just a touch up. With their rivals nipping at their heels, samsung has to keep moving and has to be careful.
There are so many brands now that are fighting for space in the android marketplace including the excellent One Plus, the brilliant Razer phone and now the essential phone alongside classic makers like Motorola, Nokia and LG, all of whom look set to bring out new phones this year. 2018 should be a great year for phones.
