Overview :
Sometimes it becomes very important to records all the desktop activities for making the guide or the document step by step. Also for the troubleshooting point of view we may require all desktop activities should be captured. So in Ubuntu Linux using “RecordMyDesktop” tool we can capture all the desktop activities.
In this tutorial we will discuss how to install and use recordmydesktop.
Installation Steps of RecordMyDesktop in Ubuntu 13.10 / 14.04
Open the Synaptic Package Manager ––> Search gtk-recordmydesktop and Select the Package & Click on Apply , as shown below :
Alternate way to install this tool :
Open the Terminal and Type the below command :
# sudo apt-get install gtk-recordmydesktop
Now Record the Desktop Session :
Go To Application ––> Sound & Video –-> click on RecordMyDesktop icon
Or
Open the Terminal and type below Command
# sudo gtk-recordmydesktop
Click on the Save As , Specify where you want to save the file (file will have the .ogv extension) . And then click on Record.
When You want to stop the recording , click on RecordMyDesktop applet on Ubuntu Top Panel and click on Stop , then below window will applear.
